On July 12 of 2014, our beloved pteribird passed. Our hearts were broken, our home quiet and sad. A huge void. I started looking online for birds for adoption. I saw several wonderful possibilities but this little mostly naked boidie caught my eye.
We went to A Helping Wing Parrot Rescue, an extraordinary sanctuary and shelter for birds. We met several and then…magic Mikey. He picked us and from the start, we obeyed😄 we made a couple of visits to AHW and on September 11 of 2014, our home officially became his.
We missed our pteribird and still do, but this silly, bossy, cheeky little being has filled our hearts.
He is very sick. We medicate him 4 times a day and take him for fluids 3 times a week.
Each day we share is another reason to be grateful
