i want to smile i want to laugh
life is hard but it is also a gaffe
We stand with those who are trampled upon
We raise our voices
For those hearts so strong
There is no place on this earth
All sovereign nations have
The right to be free
Branches reaching for comfort
From spring slowly approaching
There is darkness
There is light
There is wrong
There is right
There is yes
There is no
Which way will
Today is random acts of kindness day
I will be your friend
Will you be mine?
Will you be gentle,
Will you be kind?
Will you treat me as
You wish to be treated
Anything less, would be
The grace and beauty of a butterfly
Hard not to cry
Humbled are we
By its artistic eloquence
Almost lost in a world
That won’t make sense.
How would it be
To be a dove
Soft gentle demeanor
Symbol of peace
Would you be
By expectations, high
When all you wanted to do
words are only bandaids on the gaping wounds of loss but here is something i wrote; Mist
Looking for my Sunday smile
Even if it takes a while
Nuanced with regrets and tears
Time ill spent
Drowned in fears
Blessed as yet
To still be here
We are pretty. We are intelligent.
We are born to be free. For the wild we are meant.
You think we are entertaining. You like when we “talk”
We are parrots. Our language is “squawk”.
You think we are accessories to be caged.
We are as smart as humans and need to feel engaged.
When we hit puberty, as with human teens,
We sometimes get feisty and bite.
We are not being mean.
By humans we are so often misused, disregarded and neglected.
We are voiceless to you and we need to be heard.
We are sentient beings…not “just birds”
We need a lot of attention, specific foods.
We are not here to cater to your moods.
So please humans out there here our cries,
If you need an avian companion, ADOPT do not buy.
