when all else
seems dim.

mothflower

am i moth
am i a flower
the answer lies
in imagination's
power.

fuzzybuzzyheadyteddyflower

i think i am a
teddy bear.
or perhaps a flower
either one is
fair.

velvet

to touch the heart.
so gently spoke
in velvet tones
of love
and
hope.

papa's falcon

papa's falcon
of big yellow
feets
drops by to see papa
for both,
quite a treat.

pinkness

her reveries
sweet pinkness
soft cushions
petals uplifting

leafheart

be wilted, he
by time and years
that passed
he could not
catch his breath
as now he sits
with memories
vibrant and warm
they
fill up those cold spaces
of life slipping by.
his eyes sparkle life
as his hands shake
and swell.
a life time soon spent
with so much
to tell.

he reaches for soft sleep
his nights sometimes betray
he closes his eyes
and breathes in
each day.

eyez

eyes open
eyes close
but heart sees
and heart,
knows.

komodos...repost

komodos

i beg your pardon.
but there are
komodo dragons
in your garden.

threespin

spinning twirling
dancing whirling
green leaf skirt
curling.

toucanflower

oh i am a toucanflower
soaring above
each minute and hour
higher than the trees
as clouds caress my wings
while back here on earth
my heart still
sings.

one red

one red faces a world
unknown
a lifetime
uncertain
surrounded
astounded.

purple pretty

purple pretty
droplets of morning dew
greet the world
so fresh and
new.

tree dragon

the tree dragon lives, adorned
by sweet growing leaves.
the tree dragon knows that
she
can only be seen
by those who
believe in the magic,
unseen by most
and cherished
by few.
but happily she waits.

upup

do you see the world
from the sky to the ground
or from the ground up
as you turn around.

do you see your life
as climbing up
or  falling down.
afraid of what is next
or
with leaps and bounds.

or perhaps a little of each
a lifetime of learning
and or dreams
out of reach.

yellow tale

yellow tale pretended
that should could swim
a fish she wished.
as lights
grew
dim.
or perhaps
she could be
a lizard or snake
such flights of fancy
she loved
to
take,

prickly stickly

stickly was prickly
so others shied away
when she wanted to
laugh and play.
love she sought
but in her thorniness
would love she find
she hopes for yes.
that someone will soon
understand
that a
heart lives under
all that prickliness,
grand.

ballad

spring is a ballad
a flowerfruit
salad.
tossed with
gentle breezes
and a few
sneezes.

ant

sometimes i feel like
an ant climbing on rocks
always
busy doing,
no time to take stock
of life
just time to do what
i have to do
do you ever feel
like
this way
too,

moustacheflower

moustacheflower
funny face
framed by petals
sweet green space.
yelloweye
for all to see
happy as a flower
can be.

i try to dream

i try to dream about
a world without war.
but war invades
my dreams,
it seems

i try to dream
a steady stream
as lousy news
brings on
the
blues.

i open my eyes
the world is
still here.
but tomorrow...
is not very clear.

how far

how far the reach
how near the sky
answers we seek
such questions,
why.

Monday, April 10, 2017

how soft

how soft the sound
and sights of spring
rebirth, renewal
and the joys
they bring.

love is forever

i cannot see you
touch you
hear you
but here
you are
within my heart.
love is forever
we walk together
although we
are lifetimes
apart.

peacepigeon

war looming in every corner
the globe a swirling mess
do we as a species really
have a future...
i am too afraid to guess.

yes peace is surely wished for
but wishing cannot  make it so
we have to learn compassion
before the seeds of peace
can grow.

parrots for peace repost

parrots for peace
#parrots4peace

parrots for peace.
no war,
no more.
no hate.
for love
we wait.
before it
is too late.

see

if you see someone drowning in a sea of stupid, do not attempt to be their life jacket. you can try to pull them up but most of the time they will pull you down...

in finite simple

our world is drowning in complexities. issues are clouded by actions, reactions and no actions. solutions are as varied as the excuses for not applying them.

the concept of truth is as distorted as the reporting of it.

right vs wrong is replaced by right vs. left...

or is it?

if we reach deep within that part of us that is whole, healthy and kind, we will find truth.
we will find the universal needs we all share, and from that vantage point, things are really quite simple.
we should not allow ourselves to buy into the twist and shout world we live in,
we can find our center, together...

in finite

the infinite miracle of life. how the stars aligned..
how our worlds should bump gently, but never collide.
the endless bounty our earth mother provides.
we sit in gratitude as our hearts flow with the tides

the sun

the sun is gone
the rain returns
the water falls
we never learn
paths bent and
broken
lost and twisted
eyes look around
red, swollen
and misted.
tears find a harbor
in hearts that
break,
seeking refuge
in every
mistake.

heart

the heart
has chambers
it beats
to maintain
but it is love
that drives the
heart,
and
by this love,
we are sustained.

cheek-kea

we are kea parrots
we like to have fun
we don't mean to
bother anyone
(oh maybe just
a little bit,
isn't that the
fun of it.)

he sits in secrets
that is where
he
dwells.

About Me

My photo
i am older than dirt and proud of it!!!! i have managed to incorporate my eternal 60's nation spirit with the high tech 21st century world. i am an artist/writer, who dabbles in rhyme, and, sometimes, reason. my passions are my husband, who is truly the wind that ruffles my sails, animals rights, yoga, the beach, waking up in the morning. i find inspiration in too many things to list, and far too many more to remember. i have added sketching, watercolor painting, and photography to my ways of expressing joy and gratitude. from living with a chronic illness, i have learned the beauty of each day, and treat each as another sun salutation, and another chance. P.S. all painting, poems and photographs are my originals karen Lyons kalmenson
