he railed

he railed,
derailed
by what life
had done
the chances
he felt he
never had
before it had
all begun.
the losses,
the insults
the wrongs done
to him
his own faults
unknowing
his visions
so dim.
the pains he had
suffered
the suffering he caused
if asked why his
answer would be
simply,
because.
he pointed all
fingers outward
never directed within
his potential destroyed
this his greatest sin.
and yet when all was
said and done,
from himself he
could not run.

at last in peace
eternal repose
what could he
have been if
he were well
one can only
suppose.

touched, by not

touched by not
the world outside
his soul so pure
he navigates
not engulfed
but absorbed
by the mire
his love remains,
unbroken.

and when

and when the spacemen landed on earth
they looked around,
with glee and mirth
the two legged humans
that overpopulate
would be great decorations
for their walls and plates.
the hapless homo sapiens
as they realized their fate
also realized their own
cruelties,
but alas
it was
too
late!

the howl...repost

There was a time the world was ours
No big tall buildings, no noisy cars
No people with guns, shooting at
Everything they see
When we could howl
As a family
When we could roam our world
At will
Not worrying about if we would
Be killed
The moon our beacon, the sun our friend
We did not think this would ever end.

leavz

the leaves that are pages
the pages that are leaves
as our lives unfold
from young to old.
each nanolife contained
by feelings
hurts and healings
happy moments
misgivings
and dealings.

animals

animals are the living embodiment of wisdom, pronounced but never spoken

if peace

if peace were a chip
a gemstone
a rock
something tactile
would hate and
war
stop.
if peace could
be traded
dressed up
or paraded
molded or sold
silver and or
goldplated
if peace were
more than just
an
idea
then perhaps
we would
find peace
around
here.

memorial day

memorial day

On memorial day we honor those who have served
The army, air force, marines, the navy , the reserves
We honor those who fought so that we could be free
To enjoy our careers, our friends, our families
We honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice
So we would not pay the worst possible price
To be enslaved, our freedoms torn
Into a lifeless world our children would be born.
This is not about being in favor of war
We all hate the bloodshed, the pain, the gore
This is about people who did what had to be done
Here is hoping that one day,
Wars will be none.

and this includes our four legged friends,
of loyalty, love and valor
even after the end♥

upon my head
yet
my heart is
so near.

laven-dew

laven do
not dry my tears
sweet green leaf
pillows
upon which
my head
can dream of love
and joy,
instead.

what by time

what by time
a rose is touched
each petal
a mime
of
sweet, fragrant
rhyme.

before the tears...for manchester

before the tears
before the cries
of those who were
injured
of those who
have
died.

before the tears
the music rang
people rejoiced
carefree,
as they sang.

before the tears
the normalcy
plans for their lives
their families.

before the tears
now broken
with grief.
as in shock we sit
still in disbelief.

before more tears
please stop all this hate
blood spilled
fixes nothing,
for
too many,
far too late.

rest in peace
those who lives
were stolen away.
as we the survivors
start this most
saddened
day.

you leave

you leave me here
you drop me there
i don't know why
you do not care.
i ask for nothing
i gave it all
how far down do
i have to fall
what will happen to me
i do not know.
but how could you
just let me go....
love,
the companion animal you just abandoned

we measured, by

we measured by
what we are taught
what we learn
what is for naught
we are
 measured by
we measure, too
but does the false
measure
the
true.

in moments

in moments where
i shout out loud
how to be heard
above the crowd.
to send a message
loud and clear.
what it is,

exactly...
i cannot hear.

rantus politicatus

and in a nest of silly tweets
he chooses to plant his
leaden feet.
we want the truth
the people beg
while our presidente lays
another egg!

smile

smile knows not what
or how nor where,,,,
just now.

if by a flower

if by a flower
the heart
defined.
the world of hate
we have
declined
the world of love
we shall embrace
the layers of life
on a flower
face.

words

words contort
words twist
but the heart
of the word
is never missed.

rantrums

rantrums
tantrums
verbiage
tired of this
endless
empty
barrage
yakking
cracking
just to hear
themselves talk...
makes more sense
when our
parrot squawks.
so keep a close
eye on the ways
you are blessed.
then you will
really understand
this mess.

a rose too

a rose your love
a world above
what swirls below
to your love,
i go.

in fertile fields

her thoughts are flowers
in fertile fields
they come and go
they wane
they
grow.

may, you

may,
you
bring
peace
warmth
flowers
sun
joy
life
more life
and
enough love
to fill
the world
and reach
the cosmos.

About Me

My photo
i am older than dirt and proud of it!!!! i have managed to incorporate my eternal 60's nation spirit with the high tech 21st century world. i am an artist/writer, who dabbles in rhyme, and, sometimes, reason. my passions are my husband, who is truly the wind that ruffles my sails, animals rights, yoga, the beach, waking up in the morning. i find inspiration in too many things to list, and far too many more to remember. i have added sketching, watercolor painting, and photography to my ways of expressing joy and gratitude. from living with a chronic illness, i have learned the beauty of each day, and treat each as another sun salutation, and another chance. P.S. all painting, poems and photographs are my originals karen Lyons kalmenson
