SHE SAW HER RAPIST ON FACEBOOK

she eked her way through life. she did what had to be done to keep herself from drowning.
decades passed. memories resurfaced in comes and goes.
she went on. whatever normal was, eluded her.
in bed, in the dark, unable to sleep...she remembered many things, most worthy of being forgotten. scratches on vinyl once pretty and pristine...her music almost gone.
social media...a world at the tip and tap on ones fingers...
so she looked and there he was, public profile...this the same man with that brazen and proud way he had bragged to a mutual acquaintance about the night he raped her.
or perhaps he subconsciously wanted to be "caught" by this #metoo moment in our collective conscience as a society.
she stared at his much aged visage..
his eyes, now smiling.
his eyes on the night that he violated her; cold, dead. dangerous.
emboldened, she shared.
