a gentle

a gentle heart
with gentle touch
more of this would
heal our world,
so much!

the multiplication of division

division multiplies only if we allow ourselves to be sucked into its swirling vortex.

we have the power within us to say no, to not allow our darker untruths, or those of others. to define how we think, what we do and who we are.

reach your heart to the sky

reach your heart to the sky.
hands held high..
be open to the moment;
all you need do is try,

reach your heart to the
highest
warmth from above.
together, in feeling
surrounded by love.

be not swayed nor
dissuaded,
live compassionatetly.
as we reach up
together,
hearts in
harmony.

love

the beautiful, bountiful and blissful contagion that is love

Monday, January 23, 2017

the world outside, below

from his chair he sees
the world
alive, below
the many places
where he used to
go.
now he sits as the
lights drive by
the people milling
about their
daily lives.
he thinks about what
he used to do
who he loved
who he knew.

okay

okay...
we have things to say
how do we say them
and what it is said
do we choose toxic
and hostile
or productive,
instead.

a powerful message
is more powerful
if sent
with a gentle approach
and no vitriol,
meant.

block and parry

block and parry.
carry and cash.
after all this toxic
nonsense,
comes the crash,
negative only
spawns negative,
more.
it is about doing positive
not just evening
the score.

in time

in time
we'd know
perhaps
we thought
in time we'd
grow,
perhaps
for naught.
if this is no
what were
we taught.

a bliss

every second, a lifetime
every lifetime
a moment
of
bliss
a
kiss
not
to
be
missed

honor

i honor you
for what
you do
why you do
and for
being
you.

you honor me
by
letting
m
e a part
of that which
beats inside
your  heart.

mlk

a man once had a dream
of peace and glory.
decades after he was
torn from this earth...
no peace
no glory.
if we want to honor
this hero of a man
why do we not
hear his message...
make his dream
come true
turn away from the engines
that
still rev on hate.
where is the love,
the world
cannot
wait.

forever, you dwell

forever you dwell
within those hearts
that cherish,
you will
never
perish.
you are seen by
the inner eye
of love
though not
in form
as you
rest
above.
please do not worry
about us
here still
your presence was
the brightest candle
and our hearts,
are filled.

for thoughts to gather

another day for thoughts
of love
to gather.
or rather
perhaps
to
collect each one
and with a ribbon
and bow.
share the love
with those
who need
it
so.

this is what cold looks like

what looks like cold
the icy chill
a world,
so still.

Monday, January 9, 2017

you see the world

you see the world
the world sees you
not just what you say
but what you do.
the world inside
the heart that you
carry
your needs and feelings
in peace or
at parry.
the truths you live by
the words you believe.
the lies you ignore
who do "they"
deceive.

bricks and ice

bricks and ice
a heart so harmed
it lost its charm.
not very nice.

what we are

what we are
a collection
of thoughts,
heartbeats
moments
in a time
that is ours
it seems
but belongs
to the many
that ride the
waves
alongside us.
crashing on the
shores
each crest a story
pulsing with life.
real, here...
gone.

orcas dream...for tilikum and all the tilikums out there

orcas dream

we dream of oceans,
not swimming pools.
where we can live by
our own,
not human
rules.
we dream of our pods.
our unbreakable bonds,
that spread over the seas,
and far beyond.

across the bridge, there is a room
for the forever lost and majestic
tilikum.
a space where he and others like him
can at last swim free.
safe and far from the inhumane
in humanity.
we mourn your loss yet this
we know,
your suffering is now over.
you are where angels go.
rest in peace
while we here on
the earth below.
fight for those in
captivity
NO MORE CETACEANS
IN
SHOWS!!!!

memor-ized..for those who no longer, remember

i try to hold on to whatever i see
as it fades from view
i know that, too
that image will be gone.
lost to that place where dwell
the others, once real to me
but now only as real as
those who share them.
i see your face
do
i know you
your name
i cannot place.
did you love me
did i love you.
i was doing something...
what did i do.
the me i try so hard to hold onto
is now someone i do not understand.
i see you look at me
you do not know this
me, either.

embrace me as you once did
or so  you said
keep me  in your heart
as all fades from my head.
please love me still
i am not dead

this shell of a person
once filled with a life
somebody's  mother,
daughter, son
husband, child, father
or wife.

age

age is but a mere number.
and the heart never
bothers
to
count.

from

from the smallest of dreams,
a great idea grows.

peace in

Upon this swirling orb in space
A world of storms and woes
If love appeared in its
Place
A paradise of peace
Could grow.

grew old...letter to the young

all of us
but once were
young.
ran and kept going
all about fun.
did not listen to
stories
that we were told
by those we simply
considered old,
the words from their
hearts and mouths
to deaf ears fell.
we thought we knew
it all too well.
now years and days
accumulate
your words have faded,
or heard, too late.
and ironing out the
ironies
you always knew
that one day we
would
be old like you.

immerse yourself

immerse yourself

in whatever season

you may be.

the season that is

most beautiful,

is the one in

your company.

a spot of red

a spot of red.

little spark of glee.

that touch of

color we

all love to

see.

About Me

My photo
i am older than dirt and proud of it!!!! i have managed to incorporate my eternal 60's nation spirit with the high tech 21st century world. i am an artist/writer, who dabbles in rhyme, and, sometimes, reason. my passions are my husband, who is truly the wind that ruffles my sails, animals rights, yoga, the beach, waking up in the morning. i find inspiration in too many things to list, and far too many more to remember. i have added sketching, watercolor painting, and photography to my ways of expressing joy and gratitude. from living with a chronic illness, i have learned the beauty of each day, and treat each as another sun salutation, and another chance. P.S. all painting, poems and photographs are my originals karen Lyons kalmenson
